The past month has flown by. We are in full travel mode and loving every moment of it. We normally stick around California in late winter to avoid weather issues, and we use this time to enjoy and explore everything that is within driving distance. Since we spend so much time in the car on these trips I’ve learned a few tips about food, kids, and keeping everyone happy and fueled up for an adventure.
Last weekend we were experiencing the sounds and sights of the ocean crashing onto the rocky cliffs in Central California and taking long walks at sunset. Throughout these memory filled days, we snacked on our favorite snack mixes. They are our favorites because I combine all of our favorite snacks into these two awesome mixes. My husband and I have a more “adult” like mix and the kids have a more kid-friendly mix, but we always end up snacking on each other’s mixes. I usually make a big batch of each of these at the beginning of our trip and we enjoy it the whole time.
These are both super easy to make… and you can substitute your own favorite ingredients too!
Ingredients
Blueberry Walnut Granola, Slightly Salted Popcorn (sprinkle freshly air popped popcorn with coconut oil and a pinch of salt), Yogurt covered pretzels, Dried apple rings, Dried banana crisps, Dark chocolate covered blueberries,INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all of the above listed ingredients to make this fun mix for the kiddos. I always add a lot of popcorn because my daughters love it! My little one likes to pop a piece of popcorn with a piece of granola in one bite… she says it tastes awesome that way… I tend to agree!
