Mornings are hectic. Getting everyone up, ready, and out the door for the school bus and off to work on time isn’t easy. Thankfully I pack lunches the night before, but I still find myself running out the door with little to no breakfast in my stomach. I know many other parents can sympathize – we make sure our kids get a hearty breakfast, but we’re scrambling to get dishes done, bags packed, and are just thankful everyone’s socks match.
That’s why the gluten free snacks that I pack for work are so important. They’re often my only morning fuel to give me the energy I need to make it until lunch time. And thanks to Van’s Natural Foods, they don’t have to be boring!
Van’s Gluten Free French Toast Sticks don’t only have to be for breakfast or paired with syrup! Use them to make “Sandwich Sticks” instead. Fill them with your favorite nut butter or alternative spread (here I used a nut-free Sunflower Seed Spread) and fresh apple slices. The Sunflower Seed Spread adds protein and the cinnamon flavor from the French Toast Sticks brings it all together with the apple slices. Pair it with Greek or non-dairy yogurt and additional fresh fruit. Tip: To keep apple slices from browning, soak them in apple juice. It’s a simple way to keep them nice and not affect the flavor – since it’s already apple!
- Cinnamon French Toast Sticks
- Nut butter
- Apple slices
- Fill 2 French toast sticks with nut butter.
- Add fresh apple slices to the sandwich.
