What are "natural flavors"?

Here at Van’s Foods, we believe in using better-for-you, simple ingredients and we do not use artificial flavors, colors or preservatives in any of our products. Like many food companies, we do use natural flavors in some of our products.

Natural flavors are made from ingredients that are found in nature such as milk, fruits, juice, vegetables, spices, and grains that are roasted, heated, or subjected to other common food processing that will enhance the development of the desired flavor. Voluntary Product Recall

Why Did Van’s voluntarily recall certain packages of product?

This recall was initiated in an abundance of caution due to potential presence of wheat in certain products labeled as gluten-free.

How do I know if my product is affected?

This recall ONLY affects Van’s Gluten Free Original Waffles with Lot Code UW40193L and expiration date of 1/19/2024.

How did this happen?

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that wheat-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat. Subsequent investigation indicates that the problem was caused by the inclusion of a limited number of cartons for Van’s Gluten Free Original Waffles with a pallet of cartons intended for wheat containing products. Immediate steps were taken to prevent recurrence.

I have an affected product in my possession. What should I do?

Anyone who has a recalled product in their possession should dispose of it immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers who purchased a recalled product may contact Van’s Consumer Affairs at 1-800-323-7117 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm CST or via our website at www.vansfoods.com/about-vans/contact-us

How did Van’s communicate the recall to consumers?

Van’s issued a press release to media outlets nationwide on 7/3/2023. Subsequently, a number of outlets published details on Van’s voluntary product recall to their audiences.
