We We recognize that GMOs are an important issue for many of our customers and we work closely with the Non-GMO Project, which has the only uniform, industry-wide standard and verification program, to verify our non-GMO product status. We rely on this reputable and independent organization’s expertise and it is our policy to announce a Van’s product is non-GMO only after it is Non-GMO Project verified. Even if we believe a Van’s product is currently non-GMO, we will wait until it is Non-GMO Project verified before we make that promise to our customers.
We currently have a number of Van’s products verified by the Non-GMO Project (listed below) and expect more to be verified in the future. Right now, we are updating the packaging for all of our Non-GMO Project verified products to include the Non-GMO Project verification logo. Because the non-GMO verification process is so extensive, updating our packaging can take a few months. That means you may see some of our approved products on the shelf without the “Non-GMO Project Verified” seal yet in place.
We are continuing to transition packaging so that all Van’s products verified by the Non-GMO Project will be labeled. At your local grocer, you may see existing packaging alongside updated packaging. We ask your patience as we fully transition our packaging and encourage you to visit our website or NonGmoproject.org for a comprehensive list of verified products.
Here at Van’s, we believe in using better-for-you, simple ingredients and we do not use artificial flavors, colors or preservatives in any of our products. Like many food companies, we do use natural flavors in some of our products.
Natural flavors are made from ingredients that are found in nature such as milk, fruits, juice, vegetables, spices, and grains that are roasted, heated, or subjected to other common food processing that will enhance the development of the desired flavor. We source our natural flavors from companies that comply with the requirements established by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including the requirement to provide a certification that the products may appropriately be labeled as "natural flavors.”
