A new study offers even more reason to eat whole grains – they might help slim down belly fat.
In a study at Tufts University, adults who ate three or more servings of whole grains per day and fewer than one serving of refined grains per day had 10 percent less belly fat than the control group. Those findings were true even accounting for outside factors like smoking, alcohol, fruit, vegetable and fat intake and physical activity levels.
