Every Saturday morning, I scroll through Instagram and see pictures of pancakes. Stacks and stacks of pancakes. They are a weekend favorite for many, but can get a little boring on their own. The next time you serve a batch of pancakes, make them a little more fun by adding some toppings! You could even invite a few friends over to have a pancake bar and include a gluten-free option like
Van’s Gluten-Free Totally Natural Pancakes. Kids love choosing their own toppings, and you can play around with different healthy combinations. Here are a few to get you started!
Strawberries & Almonds: Dice fresh strawberries and toss with sliced almonds.
Bananas & Coconut: Slice fresh bananas and toss with unsweetened coconut flakes.
Apple Cinnamon & Walnuts: Place a skillet over medium heat and add chopped walnuts. Toast for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove walnuts from pan and set aside. Add 1 Tbsp. coconut oil and apples to pan. Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon. Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring frequently until apples are warm and slightly softened. Remove from heat and toss with walnuts.
Complete your pancake bar with maple syrup, yogurt, and other healthier breakfast favorites such as chicken sausage or turkey bacon, if desired.
Liven up your pancakes and your morning!
