We at Van’s love SELF Magazine nutritionists Willow Jarosh and Stephanie Clarke. Their recommendations on healthy, interesting meal ideas are great inspiration for menu planning – and of course their commitment to healthy eating choices makes them a favorite. (And we must applaud their excellent taste in
waffles,
pancakes and
English muffins).
So we were pretty excited to come across a recent
feature where they helped identify foods that boost not just how we feel, but how we look, too.
Pointing out that what we eat shows in our faces, so the piece focuses on naturally delicious ways to enhance skin radiance. Did you know almonds are rich in vitamin E and fatty acids that help build a natural glow? Or that apricots contain vitamin A that the body converts to retinol, spurring new cell growth? Or that hummus, the party snack staple, contains amino acids from chick peas that aid tissue growth and repair?
Whole grains fans that we are, we couldn’t help but notice the point that the niacin in whole grains can reduce redness from acne and rosacea.
Isn’t it great when delicious foods have added benefits?
