At Van’s, we love to get outdoors and be active – so summer is a favorite time for many of us. But being outdoors in summer carries risks for things like sun damage, dehydration and bug bites.
Fortunately, the folks at
Shape have put together a handy primer on summer safety tips, with recommendations on avoiding sunburn, home remedies to soothe bug bites and safety guidelines for swimming. Some of their suggestions are simple and low-tech – for instance, seek shade where possible, wear clothes that block the shade when you can, and be sure to drink plenty of water. Others are a little less obvious – invest in a wide-brimmed hat, keep anti-itch cream handy, and remember that the larger your sunglasses, the more harmful rays they block.
Have any favorite summer safety tips of your own? We’d love to hear about them in our comments.
